What a fine example of a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier Koko is…
Happy 1st Birthday, Koko!
A year ago today, our beloved Pacey passed away. You’ll always be near and dear to our hearts, pup!
I Photoshopped the photo of Koko wearing her cone for a Valentine’s Day card that I made for my wife.
Excellent and informative clip about Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers from Animal Planet’s “Dogs 101” series.
This past Friday, Koko had surgery to get spayed. She came out of it just fine, but has had more trouble with the ginormous cone she’s had to wear around her neck. It’s thrown her balance off and her sense of spacial-relations is all messed up to the point that she doesn’t really want to walk around.
The first couple of nights have been rough on all of us, as Koko’s had a tough time figuring out how to lay down. She’s done best when either Yaz or I lies down with her. We have to sort of pull her down so that she’s actually laying down, and she always seems to land on our lap. Once in that position, she knocks out right away. So last night, we set up an area for her on one of the futons we have, and so long as one of us is next to her, she sleeps like a baby. Every now and then, she’d wake up, and have the same trouble, being unable to get herself to lay down. So I’d literally have to gently pull her down, so that she’s on her back.
Today, we’ve decided that when we’re home, we’d take the cone off. So long as either Yaz or I are with her, we could prevent her from licking her stitches down there. Needless to day, she’s been happy and napping all day.
In about two weeks, her stitches will melt away and she’ll have her follow-up appointment with the vet to make sure everything’s copasetic…
Koko’s 7 months old today!
